Since 2016, Cask Thief has been a beloved annual tradition every May, offering whiskey lovers an exclusive chance to taste and take home rare, one-of-a-kind barrels straight from the source. Fans from across the country gather each year for this highly anticipated event—so mark your calendars and plan ahead!

At our annual Cask Thief event, the rarest Stranahan’s barrels will be on display – pulled from the depths of our rack house for the very first time. Guests will have the unique opportunity to taste directly from these barrels which were hand-selected just for this experience by Head Blender Justin Aden.
This can’t-miss event offers General Admission and VIP ticket options, both including access to limited-release barrels, a meal, and the exclusive opportunity to purchase a bottled version of each whiskey—available only on this day.
Tickets historically sellout in advance of the event, so we strongly encourage purchasing early!
WHAT TO EXPECT AT CASK THIEF
With your Cask Thief Passport in hand, embark on a whiskey adventure throughout the Stranahan’s Distillery. Roam through our stills and rackhouse, tasting straight from six to seven rare barrels hand-selected for this exclusive event. Discover a barrel that speaks to you? For one day only, you’ll have the rare opportunity to purchase a bottle of each featured whiskey—but don’t wait too long, as these coveted selections sell out fast!
Also enjoy live music and a curated lineup of local food trucks, making this a whiskey celebration unlike any other.

How do I attend the Members Only Early Access session?
Visit members.stranahans.com to apply. Applications for the American Single Malt Society will be reviewed and approved within 48 hours.

Where do I park?
Due to the nature of the event (multiple cask strength tastings!) and limited parking availability, rideshare and public transit are STRONGLY encouraged.

Will there be food? Will there be a vegetarian option?
Yes! There will be a variety of food trucks onsite with a variety of options. Your ticket includes a redeemable ticket for one meal for any food truck of your choice.

I can no longer attend, can I get refund?
We will honor refunds up to 14 days before the event.

Will there be a waitlist?
No, but we are honoring refunds 14 days before the event. Please email [email protected], if you would like to be notified if/when additional tickets come available.

Can I switch tickets?
If a session has availability, yes. If sold out, no. Please email [email protected] to arrange a switch if available.

How many tickets can I buy?
The maximum number of tickets that can be purchased is 10.

Can I bring my baby or child?
No – this is a 21+ event. Valid ID will be required for ALL ticketed guests.

Are dogs allowed?
Due to the nature of the event and because guests will have access to our active production facility, dogs are strictly permitted. Exceptions are only made for service dogs.

Are there discounted designated driver tickets?
No. Rideshare and public transit are encouraged.

Can you tell me about the featured whiskeys?
Not yet – as with tradition, the whiskeys featured are revealed during the event!

Will cocktails be available during the event?
Yes! The lounge and airstream will be serving cocktails to Cask Thief guests. You can even swap barrel tastings for cocktails, if you need a break from cask strength whiskey.

Will the general store be open during the event?
Only to Cask Thief attendees. The Visitor Center will NOT be open to the public during Cask Thief.

Will tickets be available to purchase onsite?
No. Cask Thief historically sells out well before the event. Advanced purchases are required. Sign up for Cask Thief alerts and be the first to know when tickets go on sale.
