THE STORY
This whiskey completed its initial aging in virgin American Oak, before finishing in various casks that previously held whiskey from Islay, Scotland and local peated casks.

THE STORY
A blend of 10-12 year old whiskey finished for 7 months to 1.5 years in 2nd fill Amburana casks (South American hardwood) that previously held rye whiskey.

THE STORY
Upon completion of the primary maturation of 4-7 years in new oak, the whiskey was transferred to European oak barrels that formerly held Calvados for 2 – 4 more years.

Finish: Fresh ginger and warm cider

ASPEN EXCLUSIVE SAUTERNES CASK

THE STORY
Sauternes casks originate from Bordeaux, France, where they once held the region’s renowned sweet wine. A 5-barrel blend totaling 9 years and cut to 94 proof.
TASTING NOTES
Nose: Cashews, green grape skins, lavender, violet, lemon, dried plums
Palate: Buttercups, Lipton iced tea, asiago cheese, lychee
Finish: Dark chocolate, blueberry pie
EXPERIMENTAL SERIES
Only available at the Stranahan’s distillery (Denver, CO) and Stranahan’s Whiskey Lodge, (Aspen, CO). Distiller’s Experimentals are a rotating collection of rare whiskey experiments concocted by Head Blender, Justin Aden. Distiller’s Experimentals are available in very limited 375mL quantities, while bottles last. The Stranahan’s distillery also hosts weekly Experimental Guided Tastings, providing guests with an opportunity to receive in-depth exploration and a guided tasting of the most current Experimentals.

THE STORY
Though smoke in whiskey is typically associated with Peat smoke, maltsters sometimes experiment by smoking malts with different kinds of woods. This experimental malt was smoked with cherry wood and then aged in new American oak for 5 years.

CHERRY SODA

THE STORY
A three-barrel blend that drinks like a nostalgic pour with real depth. Finished in ex-chicory liqueur, organic maple, and Ukrainian cherry brandy casks, it layers bright cherry cola with dark-roast coffee, subtle maple sweetness, and warm baking spice.

THE STORY
This blend begins with a marriage of oxidized ex-wine and ex-fortified wine finished Stranahan’s, with an average total age of 8 years and 4 months. The marriage was then transferred to Char 5 Martinique Rhum Agricole barrels, where it is aged for an additional 11 months.

Our annual winter event, Snowflake, is named after the rarest Stranahan’s whiskey that is available during this one-day-only event. To create Snowflake, our team of distillers finishes Stranahan’s American Single Malts in barrels that he discovers around the world, and meticulously blends them to create each unique Snowflake batch.
