A TRIBUTE TO AMERICA. A TOAST TO COLORADO.

Milestones Worth Celebrating.

Stranahan’s first-ever Bottled-in-Bond release is the oldest Colorado Bottled-in-Bond whiskey ever released — a tribute to Colorado’s 150th and America’s 250th, made exactly the way the law intended: distilled in a single season, aged in a federally bonded warehouse, and bottled at precisely 100 proof.

PROCESS & PROFILE

Bottled-in-Bond is one of American whiskey’s oldest quality standards: a single distillery, a single distilling, at least four years in a federally bonded warehouse, and bottling at exactly 100 proof. It’s the mark the U.S. government created in 1897 to prove a whiskey was exactly what it claimed to be, at a time when most weren’t.

Ours spent eleven years earning it. We distilled it from 100% malted barley in a single season, January to June 2015, then let it mature in new American white oak with a level 3 char, absorbing the mile-high climate that makes Stranahan’s, Stranahan’s. It’s the same rigor that has shaped this whiskey from the beginning, applied to the country’s original consumer-protection promise.

The release anchors a summer-long celebration of Colorado’s 150th anniversary and America’s 250th, and it pairs one of whiskey’s oldest standards with one of its newest official categories: American Single Malt. From the distillery that leads it — the #1 and most awarded American Single Malt in the country.

DISTILLATION: Distilled from 100% malted barley and Rocky Mountain water during a single distilling season, at Stranahan’s Distillery.

MATURATION: 11 years in new American white oak barrels with a level 3 char, aged in a federally bonded warehouse in Denver.

CUT: Brought to exactly 100 proof with pristine Rocky Mountain water from Eldorado Springs.

NOSE: Candied apples, baked orchard fruit, pipe tobacco, and oiled leather, with hints of clove and torched sugar.

PALATE: Velvety mouthfeel with rich caramel, cracked pepper, dark chocolate, molasses, and charred oak spice.

FINISH: Long and silky, with lingering oak, cocoa nib, and a refreshing hint of earthy spearmint.

  • “This release is as honest and hands-on as it gets: one grain, one distilling season, distilled, aged and bottled entirely here in Denver. Our mile-high climate does something special to our whiskey over time, pulling out a refined character and depth you can’t replicate anywhere else.”
